HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AT SJRCC

HIM technicians provide services to the health care industry as clinical data specialists, data quality managers, compliance officers and hold supervisor, manager, and director positions.
Health Information Management (A.S. Degree)
Job responsibilities for HIM technicians include design and implementation of systems for the collection of complete and accurate medical records on each patient and the processing, storage, retrieval, security and release of health information and statistics in a timely manner for appropriate uses.
Medical Information Coder/Biller (College Credit Certificate)
This program is an intermediate step toward the A.S. degree in Health Information Management listed above.

Accreditation: The Health Information Management Associate degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
Getting Started - To become a registered health information technician (RHIT), you must complete an associate degree from an Accredited Health Information Technology Program and pass the RHIT exam.
To become a certified coding specialist/associate, you must possess a high school diploma and pass the CCS/CCA exam. Coding education and experience is highly recommended.
New students enrolling in credit courses must submit an application for admission into SJRCC. Some programs may require initial advising courses and placement testing.

A.S. Degrees:

College Credit Certificates:
