COUNSELING
Counseling services are available on each campus for students and prospective students. Counselors are available to work individually and/or in groups with students requesting academic advising, career counseling, vocational and personality assessments, disability services, and referrals to community resources. In addition, resources on educational/career planning, job searching strategies, and employment information are available at the Career Resource Centers on each campus and our Career Resources Web page. Vocational and personality assessments are also available upon request or through enrollment in SLS 1301 Career Development.

ATHLETICS
St. Johns River Community College is a charter member of the Florida Community College Activities Association, the governing body for intercollegiate competition within the state. The college provides intercollegiate basketball and baseball for men, and intercollegiate softball and volleyball for women.
The college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and participates in Region VIII of this organization. See Athletice Web page.

LEARNING LAB
The learning lab, located in T-207 on the Palatka Campus, is among resources available to SJRCC students. There students can work on computers or with tutors. Tutoring is available in both math and composition. Computer assisted instruction (CAI) software includes hours of practice in composition, math, reading, typing, vocabulary, chemistry, statistics, beginning algebra, college algebra and astronomy.
Students also are welcome in the lab to write papers for any class; most of the computers are equipped with word processing programs and are connected to printers.

STUDENT CENTERS
Palatka Campus The Viking Center is located on the Palatka Campus, first floor of the Student Services Building. The center houses guidance counseling and testing, the Career Resource Center, food services, vending machines, a games area, student lounge area, and the offices of the Student Activities Coordinator and the Student Government Association (SGA).
Normal hours of operation are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Vice President for Student Affairs and all Viking Center employees are responsible for the execution and administration of the regulations of the Viking Center. Use of the Center during regular operating hours is primarily reserved for SJRCC students, faculty, and staff. Although visitors are welcome, parents must supervise young children and abide by the same standards of conduct and regulations expected of students.
Orange Park Campus The Orange Park Campus Student Center houses guidance counseling and testing, the Career Resource Center, food services, the Bookstore, vending machines, a games area, student activities, a community room, and the SGA offices.
St. Augustine Campus The St. Augustine Campus Center contains the Bookstore, the office of the Student Activities Director, the SGA Office, meeting rooms, vending machines, and food services.
CULTURAL EVENTS
The college presents a wide variety of cultural activities in the arts including dramas, dance and musical presentations, and art exhibits. The College also offers non-credit courses (Continuing Education) to enrich your life in areas such as: Spanish for travelers; sign language; digital photography; discovery travel series and more.

SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Students with disabilities are welcome at SJRCC and are encouraged to contact the Counseling Center on their campus.
The purpose of the Office for Students with Disabilities is to ensure access to accommodations for those students determined eligible. Students must report to campus coordinators at the beginning of each semester. Special assistance is available with orientation, registration, academic planning, special supplies, and equipment. In addition, specialized services are available to students whose disability prevents them from participating fully in classroom activities. The College provides services relating to student academic success; transportation and personal services are the responsibility of the student.
Students seeking disability accommodations for CPT testing must provide documentation of the disability to the campus disability coordinator prior to scheduling a testing appointment.

Office of Interpreter Services
The office is located on the St. Augustine Campus; however, services are available on all campuses.
Services include: interpreters in the classroom, interpreters for counselors, and video phones.

Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities that include academic, service, religious, and special interest clubs and organizations. These organizations are largely student-initiated and controlled, others have been chartered by the Student Government Association but may be inactive during some years.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION
The Student Government Association, through its elected student officers and representatives, promotes social, cultural, and recreational activities for all students and serves as a liaison group between the student body and the college administration.
The Student Government Association recommends the chartering of all campus organizations, appoints students to college committees, conducts the college student activities program, and recommends student activity budgets.

GRADUATION
The annual College graduation ceremony is conducted at the end of each spring term. Spring term degree/certificate candidates are encouraged to participate in the rehearsal and annual exercise. Degree/certificate recipients of previous terms summer A, summer B, or fall may participate in the graduation exercises upon written request, provided application and fee have been submitted by the date specified in the academic calendar.
Graduates from Florida School of the Arts have their own graduation ceremony, which truly reflects the artistic nature of the school. Participation in the annual June ceremony is required of graduating students. Candidates must also satisfy all financial obligations to the College.

STANDARD OF CONDUCT
An SJRCC student is obligated to comply with all college regulations as stated in the college catalog and student handbook. Should a student fail this obligation, the student is subject to disciplinary action by the College. In the event of disciplinary action, college officials will act in accordance with due process procedures stated in the student handbook. The student handbook also lists actions for which students are subject to disciplinary action, penalties, appeals procedures, and a statement of student rights and responsibilities. Students receiving disciplinary probation may not officially represent the College.
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION
While on college property, students should possess an SJRCC student identification card. Students can secure this card from the Student Activities Director/Coordinator.
STUDENT HOUSING
The college assumes no responsibility for providing student housing. Students must register their local address during each registration period. Any change of address must be reported to the Records Office.
