Then SJRCC Safety an Security 2000 Annual Report reveals the College had only twenty-four (24) crimes reported to law enforcement and/or campus security with a total of thirty-eight (38) security incidents reported to College Security in 2000.

During the years 1994 through 2000 the College did not have any reports of homicides, and sex offenses (forcible or non-forcible), nor any hate crimes involving these offenses.
During the year 2000, the College did not receive any reports of robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, or arson. In 2000, the following offenses were reported to the College as on campus criminal offenses at the indicated campuses;
PAC; 1 motor vehicle theft, 4 thefts, 1 attempted theft, and 5 vandalism reports,
OPC; 1 theft report and
SAC and PVC; no criminal offenses reported.

There were not any hate crimes nor arrests for illegal drugs or alcohol reported on the College campuses during the year 2000.

A review of the crime statistics and security incidents for 2000 indicates that SJRCC continues to be a very safe college, which enjoys an extremely low crime rate on our campuses. The College recognizes the importance to ensure that SJRCC campuses at Palatka, Orange Park, and St. Augustine, and the Ponte Vedra site are secure, and that our classrooms and college premises are safe for members of our college community. The College is committed to providing a crime and drug free environment for all our students, faculty members, and college officials with a strong philosophy of crime prevention and quality college community oriented security services.

The College Security Office monitors and records crime statistics and security incidents on our College campuses, and provides personal safety and crime prevention programs. The Vice-President for Student Affairs can make referrals for counseling services for crime victims. The full text of the college security policies, crime statistics, and copies of the incident reports are available in the Office of the Executive Vice-President and the College Security Office. The College Security Office and contract security personnel will provide, upon request, security escort services from the classrooms and college buildings to the parking lots for the safety of our College community.

It is our policy to report all felonies occurring on campus to law enforcement. Misdemeanor crimes that impact the safety of our college community or adversely impact the quality of campus life may be reported to local law enforcement. Felonies occurring off campus or misdemeanor cases occurring on or off campus and reported to college security, contract security or any college official will be reported to local law enforcement at the victim's request. Members of the college community are urged to report criminal offenses or security incidents to college security, or the Vice-President for Student Affairs, or campus Provost, contract security or any college official. The College Security Office maintains an excellent working relationship with the local law enforcement agencies. The security Office coordinates CAMPUS WATCH, which is a college crime/security incident prevention program. All members of the college community are requested to assist security and make our campuses safe by reporting any suspicious person(s) or incidents to security. The SJRCC Safety and Security 2000 Annual Report was prepared and distributed by the College Chief of Security in compliance with the provisions of the 1990 Campus Security and Clery Acts. SJRCC has completed the 2001 Campus Crime and Security Survey entries required by Sections 485 (a) and (f) of the U.S. Higher Education Act.
