SJRCC Press Release
April 2009
St. Augustine campus prepares for health-sciences building
While signs of spring are evident around the St. Augustine campus, additional signs of change and growth are emerging from the southwest side of the College. Students and residents who drive past the campus on Kenton Morrison and Four Mile roads can now see site work preparation for the new state-of-the-art health-sciences building.
Scheduled to open in 2010, the facility will house the radiologic technology and respiratory care programs. The two-story, 30,000-square-foot building will also provide space for microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and general purpose classrooms.
The architectural detail will remain consistent to the current campus design.
"It could not have come at a better time," said SJRCC Executive Vice President Melissa Miller, J.D. "We're really excited to bring the needed space and technology." Miller, who oversees construction on the three College campuses, said the facility will alleviate space issues, as the radiologic technology and respiratory care programs are currently located in the criminal justice training facility.
The radiologic technology and respiratory care programs are offered exclusively on the St. Augustine campus. The deadline for the fall 2009 radiologic technology program application is May 15. The spring 2010 respiratory care program application period runs from May 1 to August 1.
