SJRCC Open House gives high school students personal look at college life


St. Johns River Community College recently welcomed local high school seniors to its annual Open House to inform the potential freshmen of educational opportunities, scholarships and financial aid while giving them a more in-depth look at what college life would be like.

Students from Bartram Trail, Pedro Menendez, Allen D. Nease, St. Augustine and St. Johns Technical high schools, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, and the St. Joseph Academy toured the campus and attended presentations on the Associate in Arts (transfer) degree as well as programs in respiratory care, computer science and architectural drafting and construction technology. Students were treated to lunch in coordination with Chick-fil-A of St. Augustine, and a drawing was held for a $250 scholarship to SJRCC. Pedro Menendez High School student Julia Asbury was selected as the scholarship winner.
