SJRCC welcomes new faculty and staff


Welcome Heather Jones! Heather recently joined SJRCC as an instructional technologist in the Open Campus. She is a graduate of SJRCC and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from UNF. She has taught in Putnam County Schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels and has served as an instructional technology specialist for the North East Florida Educational Consortium. Heather is a resident of Putnam County and has three children - Morgan, Brett and Cristopher. Welcome aboard Heather!



Welcome Bobby Boddie! Bobby is the new computer instructor on the Orange Park Campus. Bobby recently came from Birmingham, Alabama, where he was an information systems / network consultant. Bobby earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his master's degree in computer information systems from Bellevue University.



Welcome Tom Baxter! Tom is the new Director of Respiratory Care on the St. Augustine Campus. Tom recently came from Greenville, South Carolina, where he was the program director at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton. He has also authored the hemodynamic chapters in two textbooks; is a site visitor for CoARC, the credentialing organization for respiratory care programs; and has been a reviewer for Thomson-Delmar Publishers. Tom earned his bachelor's degree in administrative management from the University of Cincinnati and his master's degree in human resource development from Clemson University.



Welcome back Stacey Daniels! Stacey said she couldn't resist the community college environment and has returned to SJRCC - this time as a faculty member. Stacey, a St. Augustine native, will teach mathematics on the Palatka and St. Augustine campuses. She earned her master's degree from the University of North Florida. Stacey's teaching experience includes teaching at UNF.



Welcome Robbie Allen! Robbie recently moved from Fort Lauderdale looking for a quieter community in which to live and work. He is the new Public Service Librarian on the Palatka Campus. Robbie earned his master's degree in library information science from the University of South Florida. Robbie's experience includes working for the Broward County Library and the University of Central Florida Library.



Welcome Dr. John Mundy! Dr. Mundy joins us on the St. Augustine Campus where he will teach economics. Dr. Mundy is the former director of the University of North Florida's Center for Economic Education. He is also an adjunct assistant professor of ethics and economics for Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University. He works to improve economic, financial and entrepreneurial literacy outreach in Northeast Florida - efforts he will continue at SJRCC.

From 1996 to 2006 he served as the Executive Director of the Nevada Council on Economic Education and the Director of the Center for Economic and Entrepreneur Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He created and ran a statewide K-12 entrepreneurship education program throughout Nevada. He co-founded the Center for Entrepreneurship at the UNLV. He taught classes at UNLV in the Colleges of Education and Business, plus master's and doctoral mentoring and service on thesis / dissertation committees. Simultaneously, for nine years he taught courses in economics, business, marketing and ethics at the Community College of Southern Nevada.

Dr. Mundy holds master's degrees in ethics, public policy and economics. He has a doctorate degree in the field of higher education administration and policy (doctoral cognate in economics). Dr. Mundy also has an extensive entrepreneurial history in his business career.



Welcome Suzanne Kempke! Suzanne joins us on the St. Augustine Campus where she will teach anatomy and physiology. She recently came from Ivy Tech Community College in Columbus, Indiana, where she taught anatomy and physiology. Suzanne has two master's degrees - one in biological anthropology from Northwestern University and the other in zoology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Suzanne's extensive background includes 22 years of teaching experience, including 13 years teaching for the University System of Georgia. Suzanne has traveled widely and has participated in several international faculty development workshops. She most recently participated in Fulbright-Hays seminars in Peru and Ecuador. Suzanne is an amateur nature photographer whose award-winning photographs have been exhibited in the Savannah, Georgia area.



Welcome to the St. Augustine Campus Mark Breidenstein! Mark has moved to the St. Augustine Campus where he now serves as the student activities coordinator. Mark previously worked on the Palatka Campus as a program advisor for the Adult Education Department for the last 12 years. Mark is the student government advisor and will also assist SJRCC students with academic advising.



Welcome to the St. Augustine Campus Maureen McKanna! Maureen joins us from the Ponte Vedra Center where she previously worked as the administrative assistant. Maureen is now assisting the respiratory care and radiologic technology programs. Prior to relocating to Florida, Maureen worked at two colleges in St. Louis. First at the University of Missouri as a secretary for the Chairman of the English Department and later at St. Louis Community College for the Dean of Student Activities.



Welcome to the St. Augustine Campus James Pope! James joined the St. Augustine Campus earlier this year in the Office of Interpreter Services. James serves as an interpreter in the classroom and for counselors on all campuses.



Welcome Thaddeus Engle! Thaddeus most recently joins us from Chicago where he worked the past four years as the technical assistant and assistant technical director for one of the Nation's oldest and most respected theatre conservatories - The Theatre School at DePaul University. The Indiana native has joined FloArts as the new scene shop supervisor and facility technical director. He has also worked two years as an assistant technical director for Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach FL. He and his wife, Becca, recently welcomed their first child, Nancy Judith, in May. Welcome Harry Lane! Harry joins the I.T. department as a support specialist. He most recently worked at the Palatka Daily News where he was the publications supervisor. Harry is originally from Blackshear, Georgia and holds a bachelor's degree from Valdosta State University.



Welcome Sam Hendry! Sam joins the I.T. department as a support specialist. Sam most recently worked in information technology for the National Christian Counselors Association in Sarasota. Sam is a native of Bradenton. He and his wife Tara are expecting their first child in March.


Welcome Oscar Harvin! After a long career with the Internal Revenue Service where my last position was as a Senior Special Agent, I furthered my education at the University of North Florida where I was awarded a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting. Prior to accepting a position with SJRCC, I was an adjunct professor at the University of North Florida. I am a certified public accountant. My hobbies include hiking, fitness training and coaching youth sports.
