Florida School of the Arts honors graduates

Florida School of the Arts honored graduates during its annual commencement on June 27. Approximately 44 students received their associate degrees in the visual or performing arts at the St. Johns River Community College Palatka Campus.

The commencement address was given by Pam Laws, an accomplished soloist and retired professor from Tallahassee Community College. Laws told the graduates that she is amazed at how the American artist continues to create art, whether publicly or privately, and reminded them that, "Whatever you do - dance, write, act, sculpt or paint - do it with integrity."

The outstanding student awards were also presented. The performing arts recipients were Carissa Cobb of Bradenton and Robin Jackson of Tallahassee. The visual arts recipient was Jennifer Salmon of Ft. Lauderdale.

FloArts is Florida's first state-supported professional arts school.
