SJRCC honors Educator Preparation Institute graduates
St. Johns River Community College recently recognized 36 students for completing the teacher certification program. SJRCC’s Educator Preparation Institute was developed in 2006 to streamline the certification process for non-education bachelor's degree holders. The participants completed the coursework required to earn a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate.
Participants are awarded a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate upon completing the EPI courses, passing the Florida Teacher Certification Exam and submitting the required paperwork to the Florida Department of Education. No other coursework is required, and the program can be completed in less than a year - on campus or online.
The Clay County program completers are Dennis Bergin, Catharine Bowles, Kelley Drawdy, Lisa Green, Sue Hoyt, Cynthia Judson, Tiffany Ludwig, Danny Pasicolan, Troy Regas, Trevor Reville, Diane Spera and Kenneth Wilson.
The St. Johns County program completers are Patricia Ainsley, Stacey Barden, Stephan Bartlett, Jeanine Calvo, Courtney Dittmeier, Kim Hollis, Beth Masters, Branden Murray, Heather Naughton, Steven Newton, William Scott, Jessica Smirl, Ranata Wright and Allison Zweigle.
The Putnam County program completers are Cardinal Collins, Michael Everett, Joann Gilyard and Keisha Williams.
The Duval County program completers are Michael Chancellor, Emily Hashtak, Carolyn Loesch and Helen McClernon.
The Flagler County program completers are Kara-Anne Casey and Sarah Hartenstein.
In order to participate in the EPI program, applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and possess the disposition suitable for becoming a teacher. The College will hold informational orientations on October 5 at the Palatka campus, October 6 at the Orange Park campus and October 7 at the St. Augustine campus.
