Florida School of the Arts to present “An Evening of Dance”

Florida School of the Arts will present “An Evening of Dance” December 4 - 6 at 7:30 p.m. and December 7 at 2:30 p.m. on the FloArts Main Stage Theatre. FloArts is located on the Palatka Campus of St. Johns River Community College. Admission is $5, and the public is invited to attend. The performance is a collection of 12 works that includes tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and modern dances choreographed and performed by students, faculty and guest artists.

"This is a very eclectic program,” said Lee Dando, FloArts dance instructor. “Each performance is uniquely choreographed and ranges from pieces that make a political statement to a dinner show in Paris.”

Dando said that from a teaching perspective, this year’s production is different than the previous year. “This year, students can’t perform their own choreography,” Dando said. “They are learning the skill of true choreography by having to interpret their work to the person who is performing their work.”

Student dancers include Lakeshia Abram, Shonda Conner, Michelle Csapek, Stephanie Dey, Amanda Edwards, Claudina Harrison, Jade Locascio, Emily Masson, Marissa Maxcy, Katie McCreary, Joseph Piscione, Daniel Prill, Chally Rowjohn, Michelle Scott, Samantha Swearingen, Caitlin Shayler and Natalie Volk.

Dance instructors include Lee Dando, Luis Abella, Stephanie Unger, Larry Albright and Freddick Bratcher.

The production staff consists of Kaitria Resetar, production stage manager; Alexandra Hernandez, stage manager; Christopher Parrish, paint charge; Rick Lawane, light board operator; Charles Rye and Jordan Vera, sound board operators; Romen Phelps, master electrician; Lynnsey Slanina, costume designer; Robert O’Leary, scenic designer; Mandi Conner, House Manager; Pamela J. Endicott and Thaddeus Engle, shop foremen; and construction and lighting technicians Christopher Parrish, Charles Rye, Romen Phelps, Jordan Vera, Rick Lawane, Kaitria Resetar, Michael Philips, Logan Wolfe, Rebecca Hamilton and Luis Melendez.
