Hit a holiday homerun with a baseball camp for kids


St. Johns River Community College is offering a holiday baseball camp for youths and teens. SJRCC’s head baseball coach Ross Jones, along with the Viking baseball team, will coach three camps on the Palatka Campus Tindall Field. Jones is a former pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Florida’s baseball team.

For ages 8 -12, a camp is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants will be taught the aspects of the game, including defensive skills, hitting, pitching and base running. All participants will end the day with a game to test their newfound skills.

For ages 13 - 18, two camps are scheduled. Saturday, Dec. 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., participants will be taught hitting skills. Sunday, Dec. 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., participants will be taught pitching and defensive skills.

The cost is $50 per day, per child or $80 for both teen camps. Space is limited. Call Ross Jones at (386) 312-4164 to reserve a space or for more information.
