Thrasher-Horne Center
for the Arts
The College opened the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts on the Orange Park Campus in 2004. This complex hosts traveling art exhibits, theatrical shows and community events and serves as a meeting site for business conferences and events. SJRCC's
annual graduation is held at the THCA.
Florida School of the Arts
Florida School of the Arts was
established in 1974 and is fondly referred to as "FloArts" by students and local supporters. It includes a 600-seat auditorium, a studio theater and a fine art gallery. FloArts offers
students hands-on experience with nine
productions and eight gallery exhibits each year.
Athletics
St. Johns River Community College
has been a charter member of the Florida Community College Activities Association, the governing body for intercollegiate competition within the state since 1965. The College is a
member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and participates in Region VIII of this organization. The College has four athletic teams - baseball, softball, basketball and
volleyball - with over 70 participating
student-athletes.
Workforce Development
SJRCC offers a series of programs designed to fulfill the educational needs of the community. Collaborative efforts with employers in business, industry and government ensure the creation of programs and courses which prepare students for some of the fastest growing occupations. Current workforce programs include Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care, Construction Technology, Drafting, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Business and Office Management.
New Educational Facilities
In 2008 SJRCC opened the $12-million Health-Sciences Building on the Orange Park Campus. The facility accommodates the College's nursing, health information management and related allied health programs along with science labs for physics, chemistry, microbiology, biology, and anatomy and physiology.
The College plans to duplicate the
facility on the St. Augustine Campus
in 2010.
Online Advancement
The College offers many of its A.A. degree courses online. Students also have online access to their records and course schedule along with online registration, student e-mail and wireless Internet connection.
Open Campus
Open Campus extends the College beyond its traditional course offerings with its Educator Preparation Institute and Dual Enrollment programs.
