use Google Scholar to access our online resources
Unlike Google, which searches everything on the web, Google Scholar limits
searches to scholarly resources including "peer-reviewed papers,
theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional
societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations."
Many resources retrieved by Google Scholar
are full text, however some are located in subscription online databases.
The SJRCC Libraries have made their online database holdings accessible
to Google Scholar, allowing our students, faculty, and staff to access
full text resources that were previously unavailable via Google Scholar.
ACCESSING GOOGLE
SCHOLAR FROM A SJRCC COMPUTER
If you access Google Scholar from a computer located on a SJRCC campus
(in the library, computer lab or an office), Google Scholar will recognize
you and provide links to SJRCC resources - you may need your library borrower
ID number and password to access the full text, so have it handy!
ACCESSING GOOGLE
SCHOLAR FROM HOME
If you access Google Scholar from home, you will need to let it know that
you want the SJRCC Libraries' online resources to be made available in
your search by setting your Scholar Preferences:
1. Click Scholar Preferences.
2. In the Library Links text box, type St. Johns River Community College.
3. Click Find Library.
4. Check the box next to St. Johns River Community College.
5. Click Save Preferences.
TO RETRIEVE ITEMS
IN GOOGLE SCHOLAR
1. Type your keyword(s) in the Google Scholar search box and click Search.
2. If you see next
to the title of a resource, that item should be available to you, full
text, via the SJRCC Libraries' online databases. Click the link for access.
Remember to have your 14 digit library Borrower ID number and PIN handy.
3. If you don't see "Access via SJRCC
library", the full text may still be available to you - click the
title and find out!
This screen
shot provides some examples of the types of links you will see.
