TI-84

Graph: y=x2-16

 Y= X,T,Θ,n    x2      1 6 GRAPH.

Zoom In:

ZOOM 2:  Move the cursor to where you want to zoom in and ENTER.

Zoom Box:

ZOOM 1:  Move the cursor to any corner of the box that you want to define and ENTER. Then move the cursor to the opposite diagonal corner of the box that you want to define and ENTER again.

Zoom Decimal:

ZOOM 4:  This resets the x-axis so that when you trace on the graph, the x-variable will go up in increments of 0.1.

Zoom Standard:

ZOOM 6:  This returns you to the standard viewing rectangle.

Trace:

Use TRACE and and to trace points on the graph. If you are graphing more than one equation, and will move you from graph to graph.

Window:

Use WINDOW to alter the viewing rectangle to specific parameters and then GRAPH.

Table:

Use 2ND GRAPH to view points on the graph kept in the TABLE. Use 2ND WINDOW to set the starting x-value used in the table (TblStart) and the gap between x-values in the table (ΔTbl).

Evaluate:

To evaluate the equation being graphed for a specific value of x, use the CALC menu (2ND TRACE) and then 1:. Enter a value for x and ENTER.

x-intercepts:

To find the x-intercepts (roots or zeros) of an equation, use the CALC menu (2ND TRACE) and then 2:. You will be asked for a lower (left) x-bound, and an upper (right) x-bound, and a guess. Move the cursor to the appropriate places and ENTER after each step.

Maximum/Minimum Values:

To find a maximum or minimum value of the function use the CALC menu (2ND TRACE) and then 3: or 4:. You will be asked for a lower (left) x-bound, and an upper (right) x-bound, and a guess. Move the cursor to the appropriate places and ENTER after each step.
