To Enter Points:

STAT , 1 EDIT. Type in the x-values under L₁ and the y-values under L_2. ENTER after each value.

To Graph the Points:

2nd Y= STAT PLOT. Enter on 1 . Use ◄ to get to ON and then ENTER. Then GRAPH.

To Turn Off Stat Plot:

2nd Y= STAT PLOT. Enter on 1 . Use ► to get to OFF and then ENTER.

Note: An alternative way to turn the Stat Plot on and off is to do the following:

Y=, Use ▲ to get on top of Plot1, and then ENTER. This turns the Stat Plot on.

ENTER again to turn the Stat Plot off.

REGRESSION

To Find the Regression Equation:

STAT. Use ► to get to CALC. Enter on LinReg for Linear regression, QuadReg for quadratic regression (parabola), CubicReg for Cubic regression, and so on. ENTER again.

Note: If you do not have the correlation coefficient on your screen in addition to your regression coefficients, do the following: 2ND 0 CATALOG, x ^-1 (to get to the d part of the catalog), and then come down to DiagnosticOn. ENTER and then ENTER again.

To Graph the Regression equation:

Y=. Then VARS and 5: Statistics. Use ► and ► to get to EQ. On the TI-82, Enter on

7: RegEq. On the TI-83, Enter on 1: RegEq. Then GRAPH.

Note: You may have to adjust the WINDOW to see all of the points on the viewing screen.
