COMMENTS: Please be advised that a class
of this type places the student from the role of the "active listener"
to the role of the "active participant." Your grade in this course
will depend on your ability to participate in the assigned activities. This
means that there are NO MAKE-UP assignments with the exception of the
quizzes. Each student shall come to class fully prepared to engage in
classwork. This includes wearing informal clothing (YES WE MAY ROLL AROUND ON
THE FLOOR!) and insuring that your energy level is high! In addition, the
problems that we will face in our work as actors shall be regarded as
challenges that we will seek to overcome. Due to the emotional nature of
a class such as this, you may be required to share something about yourself
that you would not ordinarily share in a typical college class. Please be
advised that what we do in class shall be regarded as PROGRESS towards an
artistic end and nothing more. If you experience difficulty with the material,
please make an appointment to see me. Your cooperation with your fellow
instructor will be essential in your growth as performers. In addition, the
instructor reserves the right to discard any course materials such as quizzes
and grade sheets that are not retrieved within ONE SEMESTER after you
have completed the course. The PARTICIPATION* grade will be generated on the
basis of in-class attendance and overall willingness to contribute towards the
discussion of in-class material. Should the student choose to place either
one's attendance data or in-class attitude in jeopardy, the instructor reserves
the right to award the participation points accordingly.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY: Students in this class must know, observe, and not compromise
the principles of academic integrity. It is not permissible to cheat, to
fabricate or falsify information, to submit the same academic work in more than
one course without prior permission, to plagiarize, to receive unfair
advantage, or to otherwise abuse accepted practices for handling and
documenting information. The grade for this course includes judgment that the
students work is free from academic dishonesty of any type. Violations or
infractions will be reported to the Vice President for Student Affairs and may
lead to failure of the course and other sanctions imposed by the college.
