TEXT: Stage Make-up by Richard Corson and "Make-up Kit" by Bob Kelly.

PURPOSE:         The purpose of this course is to acquaint the student with a basic technique in the application of stage make-up in a laboratory situation. This shall be accomplished by the execution of FIVE make-up projects throughout the term, a final project and the collection of a make-up morgue.

PROCEDURE:   You will be required to bring your make-up kits and text to class at every class session. (See GRADE SCALE) The class is taught in a studio fashion. At every class session, the student will begin work on a particular aspect of the make-up process. The PARTICIPATION grade will take into account in-class attendance and in-class cooperation. If, after the scheduled “drop date,” the number of unexcused absences exceeds the allocated amount, the students are reminded of the following:

4-6 unexcused absences…….loss of ONE letter grade.

NOTE: The “loss of a letter grade” is calculated against a letter grade currently earned.

COMMENTS:  Please keep in mind that a course of this type places particular emphasis on the actual application of the make-up. This will require you to bring such items to class as cleansing agents for your skin, towels, smocks, hair-ties, kleenex, brushes, etc. In addition, the instructor reserves the right to discard any course materials such as grade sheets and morgues that are not retrieved within ONE SEMESTER after you have completed the course. In addition, the PARTICIPATION grade will be generated on the basis of in-class attendance and overall willingness to execute in-class exercises. Should the student choose to place either one's attendance data or in-class attitude in jeopardy, the instructor reserves the right to award the participation points accordingly.
