COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful
completion of this course, the student will be able to:
A.
exhibit courteous and appropriate behavior to all members of the artistic and
production staff, community college personnel, and general public with whom they are in contact in relation to the assigned task.
B. demonstrate an understanding of the play production process.
C. develop a working relationship with fellow cast and crew
members in creating a theatrical product.
D. demonstrate a sense of responsibility regarding
participation in the process of rehearsal/performance and professionalism,
i.e., attendance, follow-through, learning lines, music, movement, and/or specific
technical tasks.
E.
Have successfully completed one major, or two minor production assignments selected from the
current production schedule.
COURSE
FORMAT:
This
course carries a one hour credit and works as a guided study for each student
enrolled. Students must do either performance or production work on a major
production(s) for the semester. A list of available projects will be determined
by the performing arts faculty each semester. Each student must complete
either ONE major project or TWO minor projects in order to fulfill the course
requirements. The designation of major or minor is determined by the
faculty supervisor for that project. Each student is responsible for arranging
his/her projects with the appropriate faculty supervisor.
ATTENDANCE:
By
enrolling in this class the student agrees to attend all rehearsals, costume
fittings, photo calls, and/or meetings for the given production which the production
team deems necessary, including evening and weekend rehearsals unless such
rehearsals interfere with another class in which the student is enrolled. All other conflicts including work and
personal will only be excused at the discretion of the supervisor of the given
project.
GRADING/CRITERIA
FOR EVALUATION
Each student will be graded by the
primary faculty supervisor for each project.
Final grades will be calculated on the total
points earned:
A= 90 -100 B= 80 – 89 C= 70 –
79 D= 60 – 69 F= 00 – 59
A
number grade will be assigned by the appropriate faculty supervisor(s) for each
of the following categories (as applicable to the specific job): ability to
work with supervisors, ability to work with co-workers, ability to Supervise,
takes instruction, ability to do assigned work, quality of work, progress or
development, promptness, dependability, flexibility, endurance, initiative,
respect for equipment, takes criticism, artistic sensitivity, attitude toward
work and productions. These grades will be averaged to arrive at the final
points awarded for the project.
If
a student is removed from a project for failure to attend required meetings,
rehearsals etc. O points will be awarded. It is the student’s
responsibilty to make all necessary arrangements with
employers etc. regarding evenings and weekends to ensure that he or she will be
able to fulfill the assignment.
Students enrolled in evening or weekend classes need to make
arrangements with the class instructor regarding tech week availability before
they accept an assignment that requires that they be present at rehearsal
during tech week.
CONTRACT

be turned in to the faculty instructor of the section in which you are
enrolled.)
