Information for Parents of Potential Dual Enrollment Students:

During their child's junior and senior years of high school, many parents find themselves wondering, "How am I going to afford a college education for my son or daughter?" At St. Johns River Community College, we can help answer this question through a very special program created by the Florida Legislature called "Dual Enrollment."

What is Dual Enrollment?
The Dual Enrollment Program at St. Johns River Community College provides eligible high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit at the same time. In other words, eligible students can take one or more college-level courses which will count towards both high school graduation credit as well as college credit.

How does Dual Enrollment help me afford a college education for my son or daughter?
All students enrolled in Dual Enrollment courses pay no fees for a Dual Enrollment course.

Additionally, textbooks are free for all public school and St. Joseph's Academy Dual Enrollment students. That's right! The cost of one or more Dual Enrollment course at St. Johns River Community College is absolutely free for any eligible high school student, and the student who successfully completes one or more Dual Enrollment course will receive both high school credits for graduation and college credits.

The college-level credit will transfer to any state-funded university or community college in Florida, to most private colleges and universities in the state, and to many out-of-state institutions of higher learning. This means your son or daughter will have a head start on the courses he or she will need in the pursuit of a degree-providing you with a significant savings.

For example, if your son or daughter completed the two core English course required by all state universities and community colleges as a Dual Enrollment student, the savings to your family would be over $500 at a community college and more than $700 at a state university.

Where are Dual Enrollment Courses offered by St. Johns River Community College?
St. Johns River Community College offers Dual Enrollment courses on each of the College's campuses in Orange Park, Palatka, St. Augustine, and Ponte Vedra.
The College also offers Dual Enrollment courses on most high school campuses in Clay, Putnam, and St. Johns County, and additional courses can be taken online.

What are the requirements to enroll in a Dual Enrollment Course?
Dual Enrollment students must:
    1) Be classified as a high school junior or senior.
    2) Have an un-weighted 3.0 grade-point average for the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Technical Certificate programs.
    3) Have appropriate SAT, ACT, or CPT scores.
    4) Be a degree seeking student.
    5) Have the approval of the high school's principal and counselors.
