Students with disabilities are welcome at SJRCC. Students who have documented disabilities that affect their potential for academic success are strongly encouraged to contact their appropriate counselor. SJRCC provides reasonable accommodations and adaptive equipment to support students in pursuit of their educational goals.
The purpose of the Office for Students with Disabilities is to ensure access to accommodations for those students determined eligible. Students must report to campus coordinators at the beginning of each semester.
Special assistance is available with orientation, registration, academic planning, special supplies, and equipment. In addition, specialized services are available to students whose disability prevents them from participating fully in classroom activities. The College provides services relating to student academic success; transportation and personal services are the responsibility of the student.
Students seeking disability accommodations for CPT testing must provide documentation of the disability to the campus disability coordinator prior to scheduling a testing appointment.
Getting Started
The College does not identify students with disabilities on the admission application. Therefore, if you have a documented disability and wish to receive reasonable accommodations, please do the following:
1. Contact a disability counselor at your nearest SJRCC campus to schedule an appointment to review available services and to determine paperwork needed;
2. At the appointment, provide current written documentation of your disability from a licensed medical professional following the College's recommended guidelines;
3. Complete the disabled student classification and services agreement forms;
4. Discuss confidentiality related needs and academic planning.
Our staff looks forward to working with you.
