How to Choose a Program of Study (Major)

Students who are undecided about a Program of Study can speak with a counselor in one of the Counseling Centers- Orange Park, Palatka, or St. Augustine. The counselor can assist by discussing options and resources available to aid you. Prior to meeting with a counselor:
  • Visit Florida Academic Counseling and Tracking for Students at www.FACTS.org. This Web site is an excellent source of information. You can view career resources. If you are a continuing or transfer student, you can compare completed courses with college degree audits for planning and managing your educational experience.

  • Visit the Career Resource Center on your campus.

  • Visit the Career Resource Web page on the College Web site at to review the Educational Planning, Job Search Preparation, and Employment Information sections.

  • Organize your findings. This information will be useful to have while you are meeting with a counselor.

  • Register for SLS 1301- Career Development. This one credit class is designed to aid you in your career planning. Areas of opportunity in the employment market, as well as appropriate educational programs in preparing for those employment areas, will be discussed. Modern techniques and standardized testing will be utilized to assist you in personal career choice.
