ACADEMIC ADVISING

THE STUDENT'S ROLE
It is the student's responsibility to know and understand the requirements for their degree program(s) at SJRCC, whether it be an Associate of Arts degree or an Associate of Science degree or College Credit Certificate program.

It is imperative that students read the catalog and familiarize themselves with information that pertains to their degree as well as school policies and procedures. In addition, students are responsible for knowing all CRITICAL DATES for every semester, including registration dates, deadlines for adding or dropping classes with a refund, and deadlines for withdrawing from classes.

THE ADVISOR'S/COUNSELOR'S ROLE
Academic advisors and counselors are available on each campus to help students understand degree requirements, tests scores, transfer requirements for specific programs, and many other details about their education at SJRCC.

It is important to see an advisor or counselor before you begin your first semester, and at any time after that when you have questions about your education.

Students are required to meet with an advisor or counselor once they have completed 30 credit hours toward their degree to discuss their progress and upcoming expectations. Please contact an advisor or counselor for any academic questions you might have.
